It is hard to define what “being yourself” looks like, as it will/should look different for everyone. If it were easy to identity, it wouldn’t be unique.
It was an easy decision that the first woman we wanted to collaborate with, was my good friend, and long time entrepreneur inspiration, Angela Zaremba, owner & designer behind the gorgeous line, Luxa Jewelry. One of our favorite pieces from her line (that I wear daily) is the gold bar necklace. We worked together to create the "Simply b Yourself" necklace so that women can wear this lifestyle daily. It's delicate, and each piece is uniquely hand-stamped-which embodies the message behind the brand.
Angela is an incredibly amazing woman. She is kind, hard-working, a wonderful mother, and the epitome of a "boss-lady". We're so excited to share with you the woman behind the brand Luxa, and a very important part of the launch of the "Simply b Yourself" brand.
Without further ado, meet Angela:
-When did you start your business?
Luxa formally came to life in 2007 after losing a lifetime of jewelry when moving across the country. It wasn't until 2010 however that the name Luxa stuck as the brand name it is today.
-Why did you start your business?
I've always been drawn to the natural beauty of stones and minerals. I find myself to be at my most relaxed and myself when creating. I remember making my girlfriends little wooden bead and fabric necklaces in 1st grade for our Christmas luncheon my mum would take us.
-What does your brand’s name mean?
I love this question because I toyed with other names but when I landed on Luxa it just felt right! Luxa is named after a puppy my husband and I rescued while living in San Diego, Lux. She was a sick little pup suffering parvo and distemper, we had to put her down a short time after we rescued her. Luxa is a reminder to love passionately, find beauty in everything and most importantly follow your dreams.
-What makes your brand special/unique? The Luxa Jewelry line is ever evolving and provides customers with a sense of individuality while staying on an affordable budget. Growing the Luxa line each year is an exciting time to delve into my creative outlets and create new collections. I take an immense amount of pride in the display and setup. I don’t have a formal background in design but feel the flow of how the jewelry is displayed welcomes customers into a burst of color and fun world of accessories. Whether it’s our signature earring studs in little glass jars with cork lids, handmade display tables, moss covered jewelry displays or thought out jewelry description tags, I take this aspect just as serious as the jewelry design itself. When you walk into our shop in Ipswich or pop up market shops I want you to be surrounded by beauty and feel good about your surroundings.
-What’s one piece of advice you’d give a fellow female?
Never stop following your passions. I truly believe the things you are passionate about are your calling and deserve every ounce of your energy.
-Why do you think collaborating with other female entrepreneurs is so valuable?
I love collaborating with other female entrepreneurs. There is such a sense of connection and camaraderie when I meet a fellow maker. I always leave collaborations with more direction and excitement about what we are creating and how it affects our future paths.
-What’s been your greatest success as an entrepreneur?
I feel so honored to do what I love every day. Don't get me wrong it is HARD work, countless hours, a lot of trial and error, but when you step back and see how much you have grown it really is a sense of accomplishment. I recently opened a shop in Ipswich and it's a space that makes me giddy every time I open the doors and even more so excited for what the future holds for Luxa.
Are you a female entrepreneur? Are you interested in collaborating? We'd love to hear from you!
